Best Questions Ever

I found this funny questionnaire on Pinterest and I thought it would be fun to fill it out! You can learn a little bit more about moi. And link me in the comments if you fill this out as well, so I can learn a little bit more about you!
I don't have the original link to who posted the questions, but I don't think it matters.  (If you do know who it is though, let me know so I can link them up!).

1. Apart from Tumblr, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Read, walk the dogs, cook, work, shop.

2. Name a favorite: food, drink, color.
Sandwiches, gin and tonic, turquoise.

3. If you married rich and your spouse gave you $100,000 a week, what would you spend it on?
I'd save up and buy a house. But I guess if I was rich, I'd already have a house? Hmm. I'm going to have to go the shallow route here and say I'd spend it on pretty things. And I'd volunteer somewhere (like the SPCA!) and donate some money to them.

4. Name a favorite: book, movie, show.
Time Traveler's Wife, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Murdoch Mysteries.

5. If you were given an opportunity to spend 48 hours with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and what would you do?
My grampa, and I'd spend the time talking to him about the past and our family history.

6. Name a least favorite: food, drink, color.
Bananas, apple juice, brown.

7. What do you spend most of your money on?
Rent/bills, food and dresses. In that order.

8. What kind of underwear do you prefer wearing?
Pretty kind!

9. Name a least favorite: book, movie, show.
Angels and Demons (snooze), any war movies, Inspector Gadget.

10. If you were sat beside your favorite celebrity on a plane, what would you do?
Try to act like a normal human being and engage them in pleasant conversation. And I'm certain I'd fail miserably.

11. What is the strangest thing you have in your room? (You are not allowed to explain why).
A stuffed possum.  (Not as in taxidermy stuffed, but toy stuffed).

12. What is a weird habit you have, or people have told you you have. (Weird, not bad.)
I trace the shapes of things in my head.

13. What would you consider to be the worst insult someone could give you?
That I'm a bad friend. Or that I'm ugly.

14. What are five things you absolutely would have to have in your dream house?
A window seat, a nice laundry room, a big backyard, a nice front porch and a art studio space for Rich.

15. If you could be reincarnated as any animal, what would it be and why?
A shark. Because it would be so bad ass.

16. Which band (current or past) would you go on tour with? (Travel with, not play with).
Any rock and roll band from the 70s.

17. Name a favorite of each: band, album, song.
Bon Iver, For Emma Forever Ago, Skinny Love.

18. Why is your favorite band your favorite?
Their music just resonates with me. I feel it in my heart.

19. How many concerts have you attended, which was your favorite?
Spice Girls, Fleet Foxes, Mumford and Sons, Bon Iver, Gorillaz. Spice Girls, Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes would be tied for my favorites.

20. What is one of your favorite song lyrics?
"I told you to be patient, I told you to be kind, I told you to be balanced, I told you to be kind" -Bon Iver, Skinny Love.  (Seeing a pattern here yet?).

21. What celebrity do you idolize the most?
Right now, I'd say Lady Gaga. She's just doing what she wants and being out there and givin' er.  You have to respect that.

So that was fun! I wish there were more questions!  Your turn!

Oh you pretty things.

Happy Friday! This week feels like it's been an eternity, even though I've been lucky enough to have a few days off. Like now! Yahoo! But, I haven't been feeling well, so along with this on and off rain we've been having all week, there's been a damper on my easy week.
Tonight is Art Crawl in Hamilton and the weather is supposed to cooperate, so it should be a great night, with a big turnout. If you're in the area you should come by! I'll be at the store from 5-11pm.

What better to start the weekend with than some pretty things? Just wishing and hoping and working and maybe one day I'll have all the pretty things I can dream of!

These would make the perfect gift, you can get any words you want.
I've been lusting after this Kate Spade bangle for ages.

This is probably the most perfect ombre dress I've ever seen.
(I can't track down the original of this photo, but I believe it's a Monique Lhuillier gown.)

How fun are these! Perfect for a kid, or a kid at heart. They're customizable too!

I didn't consider myself a Kate Spade fan, but recently, she's been hitting it out of the park. Her stuff is so fun and whimsical.

Two amazing collections that I'd just die for. I definitely have hoarder potential.

A cheeky little tote. You'd have to be careful where you took this I think.

I think my next "Oh you pretty things" will be a travel addition! So stay tuned. :)

Bits and Pieces: Girl's Night Out. (Or: Run For Your Life)

We hit up Toronto this past weekend for Amanda's 28th birthday party bash. Her champagne birthday! (28 on the 28th). We always have a great time, and this night was no exception. Shenanigans all around. We usually forget to take many pictures once we get to the bar, and again, this night was no exception. I'm lucky to have such lovely friends.
Happy Birthday Amanda!  (I just realized I have no good pictures of Amanda here, and it was her party! When all the pictures are uploaded from cameras, I will add one of her in.)

Fun Minx nails from Strut Salon.

What's a birthday without pressies?

Beauty on a Budget

If you're familiar with At Ten Paces (or me in real life) you know that I'm a girly girl and proud of it.
I love everything about being a girl! Well, no. Not everything. Hello cramps? Childbirth? Pms? Just no. But MOST things.
My fabulous group of friends have a bit of a wild weekend planned, for Amanda's 28th birthday! This is the first birthday of the year for all of us, and it's usually our "kick off to summer" night. But the weather the last few weeks has been so great, that it definitely feels like summer is already here.

I usually do all sorts of fun hair and face masks before a night like this, just to add to the fun. But I've run out of all of my favorite go-to products, and I'm a little short on cash. So I thought I'd scour my cupboards and see what I could find that was cheap, natural and would do the trick.

Here's a few recipes for hair and face masks that I'm a big fan of.

*Unnecessary disclaimer: I am not a doctor, or a beautician or a grocer. These are just a few quick things I whip together for myself. If you have an allergy or sensitive skin please use your own discretion*

Hair Mask for dry, damaged hair.
1/2 cup of honey
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon of olive oil
A shower cap or old towel

Mix together all of the ingredients and apply to damp hair. Comb through, making sure to get the ends nice and saturated. It's the oldest part of your hair, and the most damaged. Cover your hair with the shower cap or towel. For extra oomph, blow dry over the cap or towel. The heat will help your hair absorb the mask. Don't go too crazy with the heat or the egg could cook.
Sit for 20 minutes and then rinse off with cool water.  Wash your hair as normal.
This mask will leave your hair seriously shiny and soft.

Avocado Face Mask
1 Avocado (a very ripe one is best)
1 Egg White at room temperature
1 Teaspoon of lemon juice.

This recipe makes a big batch and it can't really be saved, so you should make it with a group of your friends and everyone can use it!
Mix the ingredients together, if you use a hand blender or a mixer, you'll get rid the the clumps.
Apply!
(I think it's redundant to say this, but just in case, when applying a face mask you should always have a clean and dry face).
Wait until dry and rinse off.

Oatmeal Face Mask. Good for oily or combination skin.

1/2 Cup of oatmeal. Any kind will work, I eat quick cook oats so I use those.
1/2 Cup of plain, natural yogurt.

Cook the oatmeal as you normally would, and let cool. (If you are using quick cook oats, you can just microwave them for 30 seconds. They'll be cooked, but not too hot).
Mix the oatmeal and yogurt together. Apply to your face and wait until dry. Bonus to this mask! It works as an exfoliator scrub when you are washing it off!

I hope these work as well for you as they do for me! Enjoy your weekend.
